Editing a Paused Subscription

If a subscription is in an active Pause state, here are some common edits that are needed to be made:

  • Changing resume option from Until Admin Resumes to a choose a custom Resume and Billing Date
  • Changing the custom Resume Dates
  • Changing the custom Billing Dates
  • Edit a scheduled pause subscription

What's great about editing a paused subscription is you can choose to edit one or all of the fields! Here are some classic edits you can apply to a subscription that is already in a paused state.

Visit Resume a Subscription if you're looking to Resume and Bill Now or Resume Now and Bill on a Future Date.

Edit the Pause

You will first want to locate the customer's subscription that requires an edit by visiting the customer's account or visiting the Paused Subscription Report. Click Edit Pause.


On the pause edit page, you'll see a notification of when the last edit was made (usually, the date of the original pause).

Edit the Stay Pause (Resume) Rules

Whether your pause was set to Stay Paused Until Resumed by an Admin or was preset with custom resume and billing dates, you can easily apply these changes when editing your customer's subscription.


Until Resumed by an Admin to Custom Dates

If your pause was set as an open ended pause (Until resumed by an Admin), you may receive news from a customer that they have a planned date they would like their subscription to resume on along with a preferred billing date.

Please visit Resume a Subscription if the customer would like access now. This flow includes the option to choose an alternative billing date.

First, you will want to click Until a specific Date


By default, the date will default to your next calendar date. Click the calendar icon and use the date selector to choose the date the subscription will resume for the customer.


When the new RESUME ACCESS date is selected, this will automatically update the RESTART BILLING date to match. From here, you have two options.


Resume & Billing Occur on Same Date

If the resume and billing date are the same date, you can leave as is and click Pause Subscription.

Choose Custom Billing Date

Click the calendar icon to select the date for when the customer should be billed. Then, click Pause Subscription.



Change Paused Resume Dates

If you need to make edits to the resume access date or the restart billing dates, simply click on the calendar icon to apply edits. Once the new resume and/or billing dates are changed, click Paused Subscription.

Resume dates are flexible. As an example, if you had the Resume Access At set for 8/1/24, you can set this to an earlier or later date. This is the same for Restart Billing At.

Any changes made to a paused subscription will show you a blue notice banner at the top.
