Conditions for the Customer.io and Union Integration

With Customer.io you’re able to tailor your marketing to reach students based on their purchases and interactions with your business. With the power of Customer.io and your Union data sync'd, the marketing strategy you're looking to create is infinite. While conditions are primarily used when you're creating segments, they can be used in other workflows in Customer.io. To get started, let's familiarize ourselves with some of the language.

Below are the three main conditions or groups you’ll use in Customer.io to build segments (Events, Attributes, and Email). Learn what each option means and how you can use it in your marketing.


Event Name Defining Use Cases/Examples
order_completed Any order that has succeeded/completed. Example: A Registration or Purchased a Pass. *
An order can be:

  • A Registration
  • Purchased a Pass | | ticket_canceled | An account has a ticket that is canceled. | *A ticket for any event was canceled. | | ticket_issued | An account has acquired any ticket from when the account was created. *Note: includes active, expired, or canceled. | *- An account has ticket a used ticket
  • An account has an active ticket
  • An account purchased a ticket
  • An account was comped a ticket || pass_issued | An account has acquired any pass from when the account was created.*Note: includes active, expired, or canceled. | * | | pass_canceled | An account has a pass that is canceled. | * | | pass_updated | Number of passes on an account has been updated. For example if you had a 10 pack and used 1 class your pass will be updated to show that you only have 9 classes left. This event is used to create a segment for people who are low in their class packages. | | | subscription_issued | An account has acquired any subscription (auto-renew) from when the account was created. *Note: includes active or canceled. | * | | subscription_pending_cancellation | A subscription (auto-renew) that will cancel at the end of the billing cycle. | * | | subscription_past_due | An account has an unpaid payment on a subscription from when the account was created. | | | subscription_canceled | An account has a canceled subscription from when the account was created. | * | | subscription_payment_succeeded | A subscription with a successful payment from when the account was created. | | | subscription_payment_failed | An account has a payment that has not gone through. The customer owes money. | | | payment_plan_issued | An account has acquired any payment plan from when the account was created. *Note: includes active, complete, or canceled. | * | | payment_plan_past_due | An account has an unpaid payment on a payment plan from when the account was created. | | | payment_plan_canceled | An account has a canceled payment plan from when the account was created. | * | | payment_plan_completed | An account has a completed payment plan from when the account was created. | | | payment_plan_payment_succeeded | A payment plan with a successful payment from when the account was created. | | | payment_plan_payment_failed | An account has a payment that has not gone through. Event Name Definition
order_completed Any order that has succeeded/completed.

pass_issued An account has acquired any pass from when the account was created. *Note: includes active, expired, or canceled.

subscription_issued An account has acquired any subscription (auto-renew) from when the account was created. *Note: includes active or canceled.
subscription_pending_cancellation A subscription (auto-renew) that will cancel at the end of the billing cycle.
subscription_past_due An account has an unpaid payment on a subscription.
subscription_canceled An account has a canceled subscription from when the account was created.
subscription_payment_succeeded A subscription with a successful payment from when the account was created.
subscription_payment_failed An account has a payment that has not gone through. The customer owes money.
payment_plan_issued An account has acquired any payment plan from when the account was created. *Note: includes active, complete, or canceled.
payment_plan_past_due An account has an unpaid payment on a payment plan from when the account was created.
payment_plan_canceled An account has a canceled payment plan from when the account was created.
payment_plan_completed An account has a completed payment plan from when the account was created.
payment_plan_payment_succeeded A payment plan with a successful payment from when the account was created.
payment_plan_payment_failed An account has a payment that has not gone through. The customer owes money.
registration_issued An account has registered for an event.
registration_redeemed An account has attended an event since the account was created.
registration_canceled An account has a canceled registration since the account was created.
refund_created A refund has been initiated (set to go through).


Attribute Name

How To Use

Active_Subscription

Student does (true) or does not (false) have an active subscription on their account.

Active_Pass

Student does (true) or does not (false) have an active pass on their account.

Marketing Only

Student was manually uploaded through the marketing list upload on Union.

active_paid_packs_with_1_redemption_remaining

Student has 1 class remaining form a class package purchase.

Email Conditions

How To Use

Any Email

Has been sent, opened, clicked, filed, any email that your organization has sent out

Specific Email

Has been sent, opened, clicked, filed, a specific email of your choosing
